FAQ's

email to fax

  • Q – How do I send a fax?
    • A – It really is very simple. When you create an account, the email address you supply is automatically added to the ‘permitted fax senders list’. To send a fax from this email address just follow these simple steps –
      • 1) From the email address you supplied send an email to fax@sundialtele.com
      • 2) Supply the fax number you wish to send the fax to in the ‘subject’ line of the email, for example 01223238333. You can send the same document to multiple fax numbers by separating the numbers with a comma, for example 01223238333,01211234567,01157654321
      • 3) Attach the document you wish to be faxed to the email. You can attach multiple documents to be sent to the same fax number. Supported file types can be seen here - http://www.sundialtele.com/emailtofaxfileformats.php
      • 4) Press send – that’s it, your fax is on its way.

  • Q – What does it cost to send a fax?
  •

  • Q – I send a fax broadcast to several numbers and some of them failed, why is this?
    • A – Failures occur for a number of reasons. The most common reasons are –
      • 1) An incorrectly formatted fax number – too many or not enough digits.
      • 2) A missing comma in a multiple list – This was the intention, 01223238333,01211234567 – but this is what was supplied, 0122323833301211234567.
      • 3) A telephone number was supplied instead of a fax number. Easily done if the number has been read from a letterhead or website.
      • 4) A fax machine didn’t answer the call, similar to 3 above.
      • 5) The called fax machine rejected the call. This can happen with some old fax machines.
      • 6) Out of date mailing list. If you have purchased a fax mailing list it almost certainly contains numbers which are now out of service, or no longer have fax machines connected to them.

  • Q – I sent an email but the fax is not listed in the fax log in my control panel.
    • A – We are reliant on your email provider delivering the email to us before we can process it and send the fax. This can take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes depending on a variety of factors. If you’re using a webmail service such as hotmail, googlemail or AOL this delay can sometimes be even longer. When we receive an email we acknowledge its receipt by sending you a notification email.

  • Q – Can I send a photograph?
    • A – Yes you can, but be aware that photographs result in large fax files which take much longer to send and therefore cost more. Often the receiving fax machine will reject the receipt of a fax of that type because the resolution is too high. Photographs received as faxes are usually illegible so If you need to send a document by fax it is much more efficient to scan it as a black & white document.
  •

  • Q – After I send the email to you, how long will it take you to send the fax?
    • A – Depending on the load on our fax server, after we receive your email it will take around 10 seconds to process the fax job and anywhere between 30 seconds and 5 minutes to send the fax.

  • Q – Can I send multiple documents to a single fax number?
    • A – Yes you can, just attach all the necessary documents to a single email with the recipients fax number in the subject line. These are then processed as separate fax jobs.
